Moss & Debris Removal

The method of moss removal used on your tile roof will depend on a couple factors:

  • Amount of moss
  • Condition of roof

In cases with light moss or loose debris, all that’s needed is compressed air to blow the moss off of the roof. We generally recommend following this with a preventative treatment to stop future moss growth. If the moss is heavier, it might require an additional brushing.

Both air and brushing methods remove moss, but will not necessarily clean the dirt and dinginess off of your tiles. If the roof is in good condition and the tiles are not brittle, we offer a pressure wash. As this can accelerate the deterioration of the roofing materials, we reserve this option only for the most extreme cases, or as required by HOA regulations or homeowner preference.

Anti-Ponding Repairs

If you see brown water dripping behind your gutters on your tile roof, you may have a common tile roof problem known as Eave Ponding.

Tile Valley

Valley Cleaning & Repair

A valley can be a weak point on a tile roof as it is the accumulating point for water and debris. Our trained crews will carefully lift the roofing tiles and clear out debris, allowing water to flow freely down the valley to the gutter, helping prevent further damage.

Broken Tile Repairs

Sometimes a broken tile is merely a cosmetic issue, posing no real treat to the integrity of your roof. Other times, a broken tile is a potential leak.

Our professional tile roof consultants will inspect your roof for broken tiles and assess which tiles are dangers to your roofs and which are merely an aesthetic problem.

We’ll work with you to determine the best course of action for your roof.

Tile Roof Moss Treatments

We use tried and true preventative treatments to keep moss away from your roof, even in our Pacific Northwest weather.

When we apply our moss prevention treatments, we cover the entire roof, ensuring that moss has nowhere to grow.

For tile roofs we use a preventative treatment that kills the moss but is gentle on your roof.

This treatment can be applied even in a light drizzle, making it an optimal treatment for the Pacific Northwest.

About Northwest Roof Maintenance

The Crew

Do you install new tile roofs?

We do not. Our team specializes in roof repair and tile maintenance. We do not install any type of new roofs. We are dedicated in helping homeowners get the most out of their home’s existing roof.

How often should I clean my tile roof?

How often you should get your tile roof clean depends on where exactly you live and your surrounding property. We suggest keeping an eye out for moss growth, loose or missing tiles, leaks, or pest infestations. If you see these warning signs, call us immediately.

Can’t I just clean my tile roof by myself?

This is very dangerous and we do NOT recommend it. Every year, thousands of homeowners hurt themselves while trying to work on their roof. Additionally, if you’re not experienced working on roofs, you can cause a lot of damage. See more frequently asked questions.
